COSTUMING ISN’T SEASONAL IN NEW ORLEANS.
IT’S how we live.

Introducing faubourg fabrics and trimmings

New Orleans is powered by its culture and costuming is at the heart of it. Mardi Gras alone is one of the largest costume-based celebrations in the world, but the demand for fabric, trim, and creative supplies doesn’t end there. Between performances, parades, and personal expression, the people of New Orleans are dressing up throughout the year. Despite that, there is no full-service, in-town store dedicated to costuming materials. Faubourg Fabrics and Trimmings is specifically for the people who create the looks that define this city.

THE OPPORTUNITY

There’s a clear and growing need. Local performers, artists, and DIYers have no central place to shop for costume-specific materials. With the closure of Joann and limited inventory at other craft stores, creatives are forced to travel outside Orleans Parish or rely on online suppliers, delaying projects and limiting access. This store will not only fill that gap, but by providing a consistent, local resource with the right supplies at accessible prices, it will also support the local economy by keeping your dollars in our community.

The Concept

The store will offer:

  • ~800 bolts/rolls of fabric, including costume essentials like sequin, stretch, velvet, and faux fur

  • A 30-foot trim wall with ribbons, notions, embellishments, and tools

  • Thread, glue, zippers, scissors, appliqués, rhinestones, and more

  • Cosplay and prop building base and sculpting materials

  • A clean, well-organized, and approachable shopping experience, run by people who actually costume

THE LOCATION

The Marigny is the perfect place to call home. Surrounded by the French Quarter, the Bywater, Tremé, St. Roch, and the 7th Ward, it’s centrally located and deeply connected to the city’s artistic communities. The ideal space offers strong foot traffic, parking, and the square footage needed to create a truly functional supply store.

THE FOUNDER

Hi! I’m Dan’l Linehan (Apostrophe, to some). I am a local performer and costumer who understands the frustrations that creatives face when sourcing materials. I’ve spent years having to source things from five different places when one store could’ve done the job. That’s what I’m building—a space by and for the people who dress up New Orleans.

With 25 years of experience in graphic design, branding, and marketing, I’ve had the opportunity to work with major clients around the country, and I’m proud to have designed the brands for beloved local businesses Rocket Science Salon and Chance in Hell Snoballs.

This store is born out of that experience and built for the community that I’m already part of. As a maker, I know what’s missing. As a branding and marketing professional, I know how to deliver it.
